Isuzu History:
The story of Isuzu starts in 1916 with Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Company when they decided to build automobiles. In 1918, they formed a technical cooperation with Wolseley Motor Company (UK) and produced their first Wolseley model, A-9 car in 1922.The CP truck follows two years later. In 1933, Ishikawajima Automotive Works merged with DAT Automobile Manufacturing and changed its name to Automobile Industries Co., Ltd. However, a meeting with the Ministry of Trade and Industry renamed the trucks produced to Isuzu, after the Isuzu River. In 1949, Isuzu officially became a company. They later produced their first passenger car in 1953.It was the Hillmax Minx. In 1971, Isuzu signed a capital agreement with General Motors. The Chevrolet LUV becomes the first Isuzu-built vehicle to be sold in the United States in1972. A decade later, it was replaced by a domestic vehicle, the Chevrolet S-10.Isuzu introduced the Gemini in 1973.It was co-produced with General Motors.
